Campanha de luta contra empreendimento turístico em Itapipoca
Desde 2002, as comunidades do Assentamento Maceió entraram com um ação na justiça, pedindo a anulação do título de propriedade pertencente à Júlio Trindade, empresário português e dono da Fundação Pirata Marinheiros, que pretende instalar um empreendimento turístico no local, impedindo que a população local desenvolva suas atividades tradicionais de uso do espaço do litoral. O FDZCC denuncia veementemente que as comunidades envolvidas têm sofrido intimidações, inclusive através de milícia armada, por se manifestarem decididamente contrárias à apropriação privada da faixa de terra litorânea para fins de turismo excludente.
Em vista disso o Movimento Maceió de Mãos Dadas Contra o Empreendimento Turístico do Júlio Pirata na Praia de Itapipoca, com o apoio do Fórum em Defesa da Zona Costeira do Ceará (FDZCC), do Movimento Nacional dos Pescadores (MONAP), do Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST-Ce), do Fórum dos Pescadores e Pescadoras do Litoral Cearense (FPPLC), do Fórum Cearense de Mulheres (FCM), da Articulação de Mulheres Pescadoras do Ceará e da Associação Comunitária dos Moradores do Assentamento Maceió (ASCIMA), reivindica:
- a reparação desta injustiça, com a garantia do direito à posse coletiva da terra e uso livre e responsável do mar para as populações tradicionais do Assentamento Maceió e a conseqüente anulação do registro de propriedade da área atribuída ao grupo empresarial Pirata;
- audiências públicas com as autoridades do Estado;
- o acompanhamento do Ministério Público Federal;
- a responsabilização pelo uso de forças armadas privadas e intimidação violenta aos pescadores e agricultores do Assentamento.
Conclamamos a sociedade organizada a manifestar, por todos os meios disponíveis e efetivos, sua solidariedade política à causa deste Movimento, a defenderem um outro turismo de base local, integrado à identidade cultural dos povos do mar, à preservação ambiental, ao acesso à terra e ao mar para quem deles vive, aspectos fundamentais e inegociáveis para a sustentabilidade da zona costeira cearense. Repudiamos os meios utilizados pelo grupo empresarial Pirata para se dizer dono de bens, recursos e patrimônios ambientais estreitamente ligados à sobrevivência de comunidades tradicionalmente deles usuárias. Repudiamos também seus métodos de intimidação da comunidade e solicitamos ao Ministério Público Federal que garanta as devidas providências.
